Stella Yamanashi was an incubation center operated by Mt.Fuji Innovation Engine.
Equipped with coworking and shared office spaces, and located just an eight-minute walk from Kofu Station, the center was widely used by entrepreneurs and business operators for its accessibility and convenience.
Its proximity to government offices, financial institutions, and accommodation facilities was also highly valued, making it a vibrant hub that attracted challengers from both within and outside the prefecture.
Mt.Fuji Innovation Engine was appointed by Yamanashi Prefecture to serve as the secretariat for this startup grant program.
The program provided financial support to new ventures and second-stage startups addressing regional challenges, along with hands-on mentoring and guidance from experts.
By supporting entrepreneurship rooted in local needs, the initiative helped launch a wide range of businesses that created new value from community-based issues.
This project was jointly operated with the Yamanashi Prefectural Government (Industrial and Labor Department) and NTT East Japan.
It was designed to help local companies and farmers facing challenges such as an aging population and labor shortages by making the use of IoT and AI more accessible and translating digital adoption into tangible outcomes.
In collaboration with financial institutions and regional businesses, the project provided special financing, data utilization support, IoT service implementation assistance, and hands-on demonstration support.
By focusing on productivity improvement, labor efficiency, and new ways of working, the initiative supported local businesses in advancing practical digital transformation.
In 2020, Mt.Fuji Innovation Engine signed a cooperation agreement with Yamanashi Prefecture aimed at building a more resilient society in response to infectious diseases.
Restaurants certified under the prefecture’s Green Zone program were used as testbeds to support pilot projects by companies developing technologies for infection prevention.
The initiative enabled companies to conduct data collection and technical validation, while participating restaurants provided feedback, contributing to improved technology development and more effective COVID-19 countermeasures.
